DAN YORK Bio

Dan York is one of the most recognized sports voices in the Detroit market. He has been heard at thousands of games and at every major venue in metro Detroit. Currently, Dan can be heard on at Eastern Michigan University announcing football, basketball and baseball. He is also the public address voice for the Prep Kick-Off Classic featuring the best high school football teams in Michigan and  works as the press box announcer at Ford Field for Detroit Lions games. In 2022, Dan began his 45th season as the voice of the Garden City High School Cougars.  

Recently Dan appeared on the Horizon League Network as the voice of Detroit Titans men's and women's basketball. He was also one of the PA announcers at historic Calihan Hall along with Detroit radio legend Tom Ryan.

Dan was the PA voice at the Compuware Sports Arena for the Detroit Ignition of the Major Indoor Soccer League and was the voice of the Michigan State Fair.  

He was the inaugural public address announcer for the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park and announced selected games at venerable Tiger Stadium.  Dan was the original host of the Joevision series for Detroit Red Wing playoff games and was heard as one of the voices of the Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena with the late Hall of Famer Budd Lynch. He was selected as one of two announcers for soccer's World Cup at the Pontiac Silverdome in 1994.  

Dan's versatility has included the energetic voice of the Detroit Rockers at Cobo Arena, Joe Louis Arena, Compuware Arena, and the Palace of Auburn Hills. Along the way, he was a fixture with the Detroit Drive of the Arena Football League announcing two Arenabowl championship games, and the Detroit Turbos of the Major Indoor Lacrosse League.

Dan has also served twice as the PA voice for the NCAA Bowling Championships, announced the Marshall's  World Cup of Figure Skating at the Palace in 2004 and the final soccer game in the Pontiac Silverdome between AC Milan and Panathinaikos in 2010.

Dan has been heard on a number of Detroit radio and television ad campaigns including "College Hockey at the Joe," Detroit Rockers soccer, High Velocity Sports, the Downtown Garden City Santaland Parade, and Garden City Hospital. He has provided play by play for hundreds of games on cable television in the Detroit area along with news and election coverage.
